Heavy work activities with a focus on gross motor development/ child initiated involvement/ adult set up of environment
At Tilly’s we encourage children initiatives for play planning and preparing strategically an enabling environment. We took advantage of the lovely weather and progressed a bit with our new project/ a play house built from wooden pallets. This child is actively exploring an enveloping schema therefore displaying a high interest in dressing up and colouring/ painting as a way of expressing herself. She helped out painting, reached up high and crouched down, used the play tools “to fix” the door and navigated on a scooter whilst wearing high hills!!! Eventually moved barefoot on to the grass in the shade and did a bit of gardening.
Today’s activities supported gross and fine motor development, vestibular system and proprioception development, core strengthening, crossing the midline, etc.
The huge portion of Vitamin D was a bonus!!
At last, but not the least it had high impact on other AOLD:
PSED, CL, UW
Next steps: provide more opportunities for exploring enveloping schema and enhance learning with a focus on other aspects of AOLD as L&M.
